A f\u00e9rjezett asszonyokat a magyar nyelvben igen kifejez\u0151 elnevez\u00e9ssel illett\u00e9k: FELE-S\u00c9G \u2013 vagyis a n\u0151 a f\u00e9rfi\/ f\u00e9rj p\u00e1rja, annak m\u00e1sik fele. E jelens\u00e9gnek t\u00f6bb oka is volt, legf\u0151k\u00e9ppen a nyugat-eur\u00f3pait\u00f3l elt\u00e9r\u0151 \u00f6r\u00f6kl\u00e9si jogrend; a Magyar Kir\u00e1lys\u00e1gban a l\u00e1nyok, asszonyok is \u00f6r\u00f6k\u00f6ltek, saj\u00e1t vagyonuk f\u00f6l\u00f6tt szabadon rendelkezhettek.
